SE1s in the USA – Our Partnership with Music Unites

In February 2016, we embarked on a charity campaign featuring our first ever in-ear headphones the SE1s, raising money for UK based charity Youth Music. We managed to sell these out in just 21 hours, so we knew they had to return one day! And they did in the UK in May this year with half the proceeds going back to Youth Music. Now that they’re available in the USA from our webshop, we similarly wanted to give back to a charity in the USA. Let us introduce you to Music Unites.

Who are Music Unites and what do they do?

Music Unites are a leading non-profit charity that supports music education not just in America, but around the world. Partnering up with artists and ambassadors including Sting, Kate Nash and Gary Clark Jr, their mission is to promote music projects in schools and support music education around the world. Whether this is through free after-school programs or special workshops, Music Unites looks to raise academic awareness and help ready the next generation of musicians achieve their future goals, whether this be through live performances, music lessons or even via workshops giving insight into the music industry.

As government funding for education in the arts at public schools continues to be cut, there’s never been a greater time to help charities like Music Unites put on events and programs for those in need. We’re absolutely thrilled to be supporting such an amazing organisation, especially considering that they share many values and beliefs with us here at CAHQ! Here are just a few examples of recent programs and events Music Unites have been involved with:

Music-Versity Workshops

Music Unites helps to educate young people on all areas of the music business, which is where their Music-Verstiy program steps in. This includes panels, workshops, master classes and much more. These unique events enable students to gain first-hand insight into the music industry, with access to college environments and leading professionals in various fields across the entire musical landscape.

Music Unites Guitar Program

The Women’s Academy of Excellence Guitar Program teaches young women how to read music and play the guitar, whilst simultaneously enhancing their performance skills, passion for the arts and strengthening self-confidence. The program first launched in LA in September last year and since then has enjoyed success with weekly sessions, including special events with guest artists and a fruitful partnership with the Grammy Foundation.

Music Unites Pepsi PS153 Choir at the Annie Premiere

In 2014 the Music Unites Pepsi PS 153 Choir had the chance to perform on the red carpet at the Annie movie premiere, singing for the likes of stars including Cameron Diaz, Jamie Foxx, Sia, Jay-Z and Beyonce. Truly a performance of a lifetime that the choir won’t forget in a hurry!

Music Unites Chicago with OK Go

Chicago rockers OK Go stopped by the Juarez Guitar Club at the Benito Juarez Community Academy for an intimate session, which let students perform the band’s latest single ‘The One Moment’ with them. In between performances, the class pitted their burning questions to the band which allowed them to question their creativity and gain insight into the music industry. You can read more on this brilliant event here.
